About Deb Singer

A merchandising veteran from Whole Foods, Deb Singer has been at the forefront of the sustainable grocery space for the past 15 years, with particular emphasis on the development of green housewares.

Deb played a major leadership role in the development the Whole Living line of housewares, which catapulted the leading natural products retailer to the front runner position in sustainable household products.

Deb has also led the way for mainstream adaption of reusable shopping bags.  While at Whole Foods, she pioneered the A Better Bag program (you know, those bags that seemed strange a couple of years ago that everyone now uses?).  These bags, which have sold over 5 million units, have transformed the way grocery shoppers transport their groceries.  Concurrent with the launch of “A Better Bag,” Deb helped to lead Whole Foods to the decision of banning plastic carry bags in all of their stores.

During her years at Whole Foods in both Bakery and Grocery Deb helped to launch and expand brands such as Preserve in housewares (translating their unique green manufacturing process from toothbrushes to kitchen items like cutting boards) and Dancing Deer Bakery.

Prior to working in retailing, Deb built and sold a baking company called Piece-A-Cake.

She is passionate about the green space and working with natural and sustainable brands to achieve marketplace success!

She lives outside of Boston with her husband David and daughter Emily.
